Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information MODO Innovations LLC collects through modo.so, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
1. Who we are
MODO Innovations LLC ("MODO," "we," "us," "our") is a California limited liability company at 12992 Trail View Ln, Chino Hills, CA 91709. We operate the website at modo.so and provide a software platform for on-demand manufacturers.
For anything in this policy, write to privacy@modo.so.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers personal information we handle as a controller, meaning information where we decide the purpose and means of processing. In practice that means visitors to modo.so, people who schedule a conversation with us, people who email us, and people who subscribe to our updates.
It does not cover data our clients process through the MODO platform. There, we act as a processor or service provider, handling data on a client's documented instructions under our Terms of Service and any applicable data processing agreement. If you are a customer of a business that uses MODO to produce or ship your order, that business is the controller of your data. Direct your request to them.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you give us
- Scheduling. When you book an introductory call, you provide your name, email address, and whatever you write in the booking form. Scheduling is handled by Google Calendar's appointment feature.
- Email. If you write to us, we receive your address and the contents of your message.
- Subscription. If you subscribe to updates, we collect your email address and nothing else. Delivery is handled by MailerLite.
3.2 Information collected automatically
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how this website is used. It records the pages you visit, the referring site, your approximate location derived from a truncated IP address, and your device and browser type. It sets cookies on your device to recognize returning visits. We have IP anonymization enabled, and we do not use Google Analytics for advertising, remarketing, or audience sharing.
- Do Not Track. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we do not load analytics at all.
- Security and operational logs. Our host records IP addresses and request metadata to defend the site against abuse and to keep it online.
3.3 Information we do not collect
This website does not ask for and should not receive government identifiers, financial account numbers, health information, precise geolocation, or any other sensitive category of personal information. Please do not send us information of that kind through this site.
4. How we use it
- To hold the conversation you asked us to schedule.
- To reply to you.
- To send the updates you subscribed to, until you tell us to stop.
- To understand which parts of this website are useful and improve them.
- To keep the site secure and available.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not run advertising pixels on this site.
5. Legal bases
Where the UK or EU GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Consent, for marketing emails. You may withdraw it at any time and the withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out.
- Legitimate interests, in operating, securing, and improving our business, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation, where the law requires us to retain or disclose information.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, for the purposes described above:
- Cloudflare, Inc. Hosting, content delivery, security, and cookieless analytics.
- Google LLC. Appointment scheduling, business email, and website analytics.
- MailerLite (UAB "Mailerlite"). Email subscription management and delivery.
We may also disclose information when required by law or valid legal process, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. In that last case we will give notice before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
7. Cookies and analytics
This website uses two kinds of browser storage, and nothing else.
7.1 Analytics cookies
Google Analytics 4 sets cookies to distinguish one visit from another and to recognize returning visitors. They expire automatically. We use these only to measure how the site is used, with IP anonymization enabled. We do not use them for advertising, we do not share the data with Google for its own purposes, and we do not attempt to identify you.
You can prevent them entirely by enabling Do Not Track in your browser, by using Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site. Nothing on the site stops working if you do.
7.2 Your theme preference
We store one item in your browser's local storage: whether you prefer the light or dark theme. It stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and cannot identify you. Clearing your browser data removes it.
7.3 Third parties
If you follow a link to Google Calendar or MailerLite, those services operate under their own policies and may set their own cookies.
8. How long we keep it
- Subscription emails: until you unsubscribe, plus up to 30 days to process the request and record the suppression.
- Scheduling and inquiry records: up to 3 years, as a record of our business communications.
- Security and operational logs: up to 30 days.
- Analytics: Google Analytics event data is retained for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege access for our team. Credentials for third-party services are held as encrypted secrets and are never present in the code delivered to your browser. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
10. Your rights
10.1 Everyone
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message. You can also ask us to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you by writing to privacy@modo.so.
10.2 California residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request its deletion, to request its correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Because we do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no opt-out to exercise.
To make a request, email privacy@modo.so from the address you gave us, which is how we verify that the request is yours. We respond within 45 days and may extend once, with notice, where the law allows. You may use an authorized agent, and we may ask for proof of that authorization.
10.3 UK, EU, and EEA residents
You additionally have the right to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
11. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers process information in the United States and elsewhere. Where we transfer personal information out of the UK, EU, or EEA, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, together with the UK Addendum where applicable, as incorporated into our agreements with those providers.
12. Children
This website and the MODO platform are built for businesses and are not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we revise the date at the top. For material changes we will give additional notice, such as an email to subscribers before the change takes effect.
